The Small Business Council of Rochester has a lot to offer businesses in the Greater Rochester area. Led by an entirely volunteer but dedicated group of Rochester’s small business leaders, the Small Business Council of Rochester is committed to providing Rochester’s business community with the tools they need to help local business leaders, and their businesses, grow and prosper both personally and professionally.

It begins with a comprehensive portfolio of educational programs covering marketing, human resources, information technology, finance, and more – that provides new and innovative ideas, strategies and practical tools to take back and implement in your business. These educational programs include:
Boot Camps provide
educational and networking opportunity for new and growing businesses to learn basic business practices in a casual, interactive environment from industry experts in their fields. Our Headliner Programs for the small business community feature top executives discussing marketing, sales, corporate culture, and leadership. Our Executive Development Roundtables provide a year-round learning network promoting peer-to-peer and colleague feedback where senior and mid-level managers meet with other business executives to evaluate various business issues for the purpose of problem resolution.
The Small Business Council of Rochester Business Person of the Year Annual Gala Luncheon attracts more than 1,000 people and is our flagship event enabling our organization and our community to recognize Rochester's outstanding small business entrepreneurs who have demonstrated success in both civic and professional areas. The 2008 Business Person of the Year was Kenton Fiske of SenDEC Corporation.
A key initiative of the SBC of Rochester is to give back to the community that has served us so well. To that end, two $1,000 scholarships are offered to Nazareth College students pursuing a business degree in college. These scholarships are awarded at the Annual Gala Luncheon.
The SBC of Rochester also hosts several business Networking Events that give you the opportunity to meet and share issues and opportunities with companies from throughout the Rochester area. These events help you broaden your business relationships and learn strategies for success from peers in other businesses.
You’ll find fun in foursomes in our Annual Golf Outing – a "scramble" format followed by a casual dinner and networking. And, our Annual Holiday Party, free to all SBC members, is a great way to close out the year with a little holiday cheer.
In addition, our “SBC Cares” Thanksgiving Appeal Food Drive
helps provide food baskets to organizations serving those less fortunate. In 2008, more than 100 member companies of the SBC of Rochester supplied food and gift certificates to benefit over 600 families in the Rochester area.
Through our affiliation with the Rochester Business Alliance, you also have access to additional business services and strategic resources that can help you run your business.
If you are a member, we hope you continue to enjoy all that the SBC of Rochester has to offer. If you are not a member, we invite you to join the SBC of Rochester.
